๐About Can Birds Drink Juice?
Fruit juice should generally not be given to pet birds. While small amounts of diluted, fresh-squeezed juice from bird-safe fruits are not acutely toxic, juice concentrates sugar while removing the beneficial fiber of whole fruit. The high sugar content promotes crop candidiasis (yeast infection), one of the most common health issues in captive birds. Juice can also contribute to obesity and displace nutritionally complete foods in the diet. Commercial juices often contain added sugars, preservatives, and sometimes artificial sweeteners. Even 100% juice is too concentrated in sugar for regular avian consumption. If you want to offer fruit flavors, whole fresh fruit is always the better option โ it provides the same vitamins with beneficial fiber and in more appropriate sugar concentrations. Fresh water is the only recommended regular beverage for birds.
